“A hotel-like lobby as the heart of the entrepreneurial home.”

About this project

ZENBER Architects has transformed the interior of the Malie Tower into a contemporary and hospitable entrepreneurial home that reflects the identity of VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland. The design supports the new way of working and offers a multifunctional environment where employees, members and partners can meet each other formally and informally.

Dynamic and welcoming lobby

The ground floor acts as the bustling heart of the entrepreneurial home. The lobby has a warm atmosphere and offers a hotel-like atmosphere. Staff and guests are welcomed at a central counter and can visit a dining/work lounge with various seating areas and a prominent front-cooking kitchen. LCD displays provide real-time news and a window into national and international developments. The mezzanine, connected to a new staircase, increases the possibilities of using the space.

Transparent work environment

The higher floors offer an open and transparent work environment that promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing. Sightlines to the outside, ample daylight and a warm wooden core create a pleasant atmosphere. In addition to dynamic zones with meeting rooms and pantries, there are quiet, transparent workrooms on the periphery, where employees can work in privacy.

“Reuse and sustainability give the Malie Tower a forward-looking identity.”

“A hotel-like lobby as the heart of the entrepreneurial home.”

Meeting & convention centers

The 6th and 7th floors are designed as flexible meeting and convention centers. Sliding panel walls make it possible to enlarge spaces and the foyer as needed. The use of glass promotes transparency and daylight. The convention center has been upgraded with new furniture, carpets and painted walls.

Sustainability and reuse

Sustainability was a spearhead in this project. Existing natural stone floors and system walls have been reused and reintegrated. New elements have been implemented in circular and sustainable materials. Efficiency has been achieved by increasing the number of office floors from five to three, while maintaining functionality.

“Reuse and sustainability give the Malie Tower a forward-looking identity.”
