The task

ASML asked ZENBER Architects to design an innovative and sustainable Hub in Den Bosch. The hub was supposed to be a hybrid workplace that combines flexibility, collaboration and high-tech applications with a human touch. The design had to match the theme “Think small, dream big”, where both scaling and detail are key. At the same time, sustainability had to be a spearhead, with the reuse of materials and innovative concepts for a future-proof work environment.

About this project

The ASML Hub in Den Bosch, located in the Essent building, comprises three floors that are arranged according to the spatial concept “Zoom in, zoom out”. The design is divided into an inner ring (Zoom in) and an outer ring (Zoom out), each with a unique look and functionality. The inner ring focuses on small, detailed structures and tactile materials, while the outer ring focuses more on scale, innovation and connection to the city.

Inner ring: zoom in - “Think small”

The inner ring offers flexible and open spaces around the patio. Fluid spaces such as lounges and landing areas make it possible to change settings quickly. The design uses warm, natural tones with microstructures in materials such as hemp and recycled fishnet. Photographic images of chips and technology bring the ASML world closer.

Outer ring: zoom out - “Dream big”

The outer ring offers fixed spaces for consultations and brainstorming sessions. The materials are innovative, with a high-tech look such as composites and perforated steel. The branding focuses on large-scale themes, such as urban structures and the universe. Here, the user will find sitting and standing options in various work settings that can be easily adjusted.

"Experience design"

Functional zoning: Connect, Collaborate, Focus

The three floors are functionally divided:

‍

1st floor: Focused on receiving and meeting.

2nd and 3rd floors: For collaboration and focused work.

Connect: Central pantries, converted into living rooms, encourage encounters and relaxation.

Collaborate: Interactive and hybrid collaboration zones, with flexible spaces and digital whiteboards.

Focus: Low-irritable zones and libraries for focused work, with flexible setups and acoustic work pods.

Experience ASML

The “Think small, dream big” concept is felt throughout the building, with branding integrated into furniture, wall finishes and iconic designs. ASML's technology and vision come to life through high-tech applications, such as interactive walls and dynamic lighting.
