Lounge 1 at Schiphol nominated for the ARC27 Awards!

For the ARC27 Transformation and Renovation Award , the Lounge 1 Schiphol project has been named to the long list. In collaboration with Benthem Crouwel and NACO, ZENBER Architecten has designed a pleasant, more sustainable, and future-proof lounge that contributes to a better passenger experience.

“Schiphol aims to restore the airport’s quality to the top 3 of European hub airports. The redesign of Terminal 1 contributes to a better passenger experience. The Schengen area has been renewed to accommodate future passenger growth and changing needs. Lounge 1 has been expanded and renovated: 13,000 m² renovated and 6,000 m² of new construction added, for a total of 24,000 m².”

ARC27 Awards

The ARC Awards are presented annually by the leading architecture platform deArchitect. The awards are judged by independent professional juries. The ARC27 Transformation and Renovation Award is presented to a project (architecture, urban planning, and public space) completed between May 1, 2025, and September 1, 2026. This award focuses on the art of redesigning, renewing, and making existing buildings more sustainable so that they can once again be of great value to their users. The goal of the prize is to showcase the potential of existing structures, as well as the creativity, craftsmanship, and vision of the architects.
